WEDDING GUEST STYLE GUIDE ♡

Hello my loves! How is your summer going so far? Mine has been crazy. Extremely busy, full of unexpected events and some amazing experiences that I can't wait to share with you. If you care for a glimpse, you can go check out my Instagram account (@helena_tsk). I really do hope that August will be good to us all. ♥

Anyway, as you may know, wedding season is still very much on. I mean, what better time to celebrate your love for your s.o. than now that the sun is shinning so bright? Being only 20 years old, wedding isn't currently in my short term bucket list. Nonetheless, I can still offer you my style advice.

In my previous post, we discussed the do's and don'ts of wedding gift giving and today we're going to talk about your clothes. Aka I'm trying to make you the best and most stylish wedding guest ever 😂 First, let me give you some tips that will help you survive a summer wedding.

Choose lightweight fabrics

In my book, being Greek and all, summer equals some serious amounts of heat. Hence, you need to be dressed accordingly. Pick something airy and flowy and, preferably, stay away from anything too tight. The last thing you need is everyone staring at your sweat stains. You want to breathe properly and be comfortable for the long evening that awaits you.

Be careful with the patterns

It is well known that summer wakes our inner flower child. Yes, bohemian vibes may be your ish, but for a wedding, you may want to consider toning it down a little bit. You don't want to look like a hippie or overdo it with crazy patterns. If you want your outfit to be more summer appropriate, you could opt for a monochromatic look with a nice color (not too bright).
If you are into color-blocking, stick with the pastels. Baby blue and rose quartz look a lot classier than hot pink and vivid turquoise.

Consider your poor feet

Some women can walk on stilettos with swag all day and others can't make a single step without tripping. Maybe you can practice or maybe that's just how things are. But, when it comes to a wedding, you need to be very thoughtful about the shoes that you pick.
First of all, keep in mind that many summer weddings take place outdoors. While I want to think of myself as very skilled when it comes to walking (and dancing) on heels, I can't even stand the thought of doing that on grass, sand or anything other than solid ground. So you may want to keep that in mind before choosing sky high heels.
Luckily, fashion has evolved enough for us not to be required to wear heels to look formal or stylish and you can find amazing flats for any occasion.

Other than my tips, I highly suggest you take the following style guide into consideration:

And if you don't own a suit appropriate for the occasion? Worry not. You can always check out the tuxedo & suit rentals that The Black Tux has to offer! (hint: Christian Grey would approve)

Anyway, these are just some guest style suggestions. At the end of the day, keep in mind that you need to stay true to your personal style an aesthetic and simply adjust it to fit each event. Just be you boo ;)

What are you planning on wearing to the next wedding you're invited to? Let me know in the comments below ♥

WEDDING GIFT DO'S & DON'TS ♡

Hello my darlings! How is your day going so far? Personally I am enjoying the summer heat and trying to relax while I'm catching up with work. I absolutely adore summer! ♥

In case you forgot, wedding season is on, at the moment, and the struggle is real. Not just for the brides and grooms to be, but also for the guests. Because even if you are opposed to the idea of marriage or you are too young to get married (like me), you still have to attend. And God knows how many weddings we'll have to go to this summer.
Sure, planning an entire wedding from scratch is no picnic, but attending one also comes with things to worry about. What will I wear, who should I bring as my +1, what kind of gift should I get them?
Luckily for us, Zola is here to help. It's an online platform for wedding planning and registry, where you can find useful tools and a wide selection of wedding gifts. Since they are bomb when it comes to weddings and I kinda shop for a living, I teamed up with them to give advice to wedding guests regarding the gifts.

Let's start with some basics. Usually, the couple will provide you with some guidance on that matter. A registry, a bank account to deposit money or (if you are close) a gift suggestion. It goes without saying that you ought to follow their will.
Giving the couple money or gift certificates is perfectly acceptable and, some would say, easier. They could use it for their honeymoon or to buy something they need for their new home. Just make sure that you deposit the money on their bank account and not show up with a check the day of the wedding. #classless

Same thing goes for the gift. It is rather distasteful to bring your gift to wedding and it may cause discomfort to the couple as well. You should send it to them prior to the wedding and make sure that it's clear that you got it for them. This way, they will be able to send you a thank you note once they return from their honeymoon.
Now, if there is no registry, you free to choose any gift you like for the happy couple. Proceed with caution though. If you are close to them, you could always ask them what they need and it's always good to include all the necessary papers in case they want to change it for something else.

The gift should reflect your relationship with the couple and show that you put a lot of thought to it - especially if they matter to you. Also, if they brought you something expensive at your wedding, you should probably do the same.
If you are close with them, you may be tempted to get them something funny or inappropriate. Don't 😝. Opt for something more classy and timeless that they could keep for years and years.
Moreover, if you only know one of them personally, it's no right to get a gift just for one of them. Their wedding symbolizes them becoming "one" and that is what the gift should be about. Get something that they could both use.
As for the budget, it depends on your finances and on your relationship with the couple. The closer you are, the more you need to spend. If you are involved in the wedding (bridesmaids etc), the gift should be pretty high end and boujee (300$ +)
If you don't know the couple that well and they just invited you out of politeness, you could get away with a pretty cheap gift. Get them photo frames, inexpensive kitchen tools (like frying pans, woks, mixers etc), trays, towels, platters and home decorations.
For friends and family that you are not extremely close to, the price rises a bit. Kitchen appliances are always great (toasters, slow cookers) and so is cutlery and knives. You could alsο get them sets for the bathroom or the kitchen and even china. If you want something chic and efficient, opt for a vase.
If someone you're really close with is getting married, you are expected to spend a bit more. The options here are endless. You could get electronics (camera, TV, stereo), expensive appliances (mixer, espresso machine), vases, pitchers, glass sets, luggage and even furniture. That golden bar cart really caught my eye!

All in all, keep in mind that the gift should come from the heart and should reflect your feelings towards the couple, as well as your personal taste. It should be clear that you were the one who picked it out and that you did it with love.

What do you guys think about all those gifts? Which one would you choose for the next wedding you're invited to? #GreekFaceAwards - NYX ♡

Hello my darlings! How are you this fine looking day? I sure am tired as eff but really excited at the same time. Easter break has officially started and I am so down for not going to college for two weeks. I really needed a break from all the classes (and tbh the people there) and, even though I have so much in my plate at the moment, I will try to unwind and relax as much as I can.
Anyway, today I wanted to talk to you about the story behind my entry for the #GreekFaceAwards by NYX. Basically the greek version of the og Nyx face Awards, where you have to create an out of this world makeup look and compete with others.
When I first heard about it, I had mixed feelings. First things first, I don't really do special effects makeup, creepy looks etc. so I wasn't sure what I could do. The other thing that was holding me back, was more serious though.
Some people from college and this guy that was hitting on me discovered my videos and that made me feel so self-conscious and just, really, bad. I re-watched all my videos and all I could see was flaws and things I didn't like. Thus, I made them all private. Generally, I seem pretty confident, so it's hard for people to understand how insecure I can get at times.
As far as the guy is concerned, I felt I didn't look as pretty as I do now, one or two years ago. As for my classmates now, it's more complicated. First of all, that particular group is known to gossip like there's no tomorrow and be mean for fun. I already went through this in high school, with this girl who was trying to bring me down and make me feel terrible about myself (sort of a wannabe bully) and I just didn't want that kind of negativity in my life again. I'm not the victim type of person but, I don't like confrontation and some people interpret that as me not fighting back. And I didn't want that.
But then it hit me. Was I going to let them dictate my actions and tell me how to live my life? I don't think so! It doesn't matter who you are, how pretty, smart or talented you seem. There will always be haters out there, bullies and people full of negativity, inferiority complexes and inhibitions who will criticize you no matter what.
I realised that I didn't need to be better, I just needed thicker skin. Those people are so completely irrelevant to me and their opinions are worth nothing. And there is no way I will let them affect me in such a bad way ever again. I am going to do what I love, work hard and do what makes ME happy. And if they're not ok with it well, pardon me, but they can suck it! Nobody is forcing them to watch my videos, read my blog or even talk to me and I suggest they get a job or a hobby or do some volunteer work instead of gossiping about others behind their backs. Get a life people!
I absolutely love what I do, every little aspect of it, and I do love myself. And I'm never going to let them or anyone else convince me for the opposite. And you shouldn't either. Be confident, stay true to yourself and don't listen to anyone else. You can be perfect and they still won't like you. In fact, the better you are, the more threatened they feel! Leave them and their negativity behind. If you believe in yourself, nobody can drag you down. You do you boo 😘
So, here is my video. I didn't make it to the top 20, but it's ok. I adore it, my friends adore it and it symbolizes something very important to me. This is me being me. Think of it as my fairy princess alter ego. With pink, glitter, rhinestones and a tiara! Just the way I like it. ♥
I hope you do too! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel  😉

PEACH MAKEUP FOR SPRING ♡

Hello my loves! I've missed you soooo much. I know I'm the worst for not posting anything for like a month or so, but I have good reason. I barely had any time to breathe. I've been so busy lately with work and college and, being the perfectionist I am, I couldn't add another task in my daily routine. My blog is my baby, my favorite way of expressing myself and sharing my passion with all of you. This is why I don't want to half-ass anything here. I just wait until I have enough time, energy and excitement to write an amazing article for you (and for me too 😝). I hope you understand ♥
Anyway, today I wanted to talk to you about something that has been on my mind for the longest time. Peach makeup! If you know me, you know that makeup is my obsession, my passion, my weakness. I can spend hours watching tutorials, hauls, Instagram posts, talking about makeup and, of course, doing my own.
I absolutely love experimenting with trends and trying out new products so, when I found out about the peach trend, I wanted to try it right away. Now, what I love about makeup, is that you can recreate any possible look using only the products that you already have in your collection. Yes, everyone and their mom has released something peach-themed, from Too Faced to Kylie to Colourpop. And yes, I wish I could try them all out. Being on a budget has, unfortunately, never favored anyone who is obsessed with cosmetics :/ But, luckily, I made it work.

I used my favorite peach blushes and all the eyeshadows with a warmer peach undertone that I could find in my collection. Also, you guys know that I love to mix n' match more than anything. Thus, I used different lipsticks to achieve the perfect peach lip at home. I was astounded by the result.
Now, why so much fuss about peach, you ask. Well, first of all, it immediately makes me think of spring. It's warm, soft, vibrant and it's just one of those colors that instantly make you happy. Plus, I feel it adds a healthy glow to the skin, while complementing all skin and eye colors out there. Basically, the perfect transition color for spring. Sweet yet interesting.
You can use it to achieve pretty much any look, from soft everyday simplicity, to full face glam! It's less cliche than pink and less tacky and bold than orange. The ideal hybrid that looks good on everyone! What's not to love? ♥

VALENTINE'S DAY ft. BONOBOS ♡

Hello my darlings! I'm back! I finally finished with my finals and I couldn't be happier. I am so ready to relax and have fun and see all my friends again. Let's just ignore the fact that I've been working all day today because...fashion :P
Anyway, today I wanted to do a Valentine's Day post for all my lovebirds out there. Personally, I don't celebrate it a)because I'm single and dating and b)because I feel that, if you are in love, every day is special. It doesn't matter though, because I love creating sets and articles about this "holiday".
This time, I teamed up with Bonobos again, to create two looks for you. If you've been with me for a while, you might remember our previous collaboration. If not, you can check it out here. Bonobos, basically offers high quality menswear, and I can guarantee that you'll look like a million bucks if you get your clothes from their website bonobos.com I absolutely love their chic and polished aesthetic and I wish more men would dress like that. Well, a girl can dream ;)
If you're looking to buy menswear for yourself or a special someone, I would highly recommend you to check out their website and especially their pant's page.
The first look that I created (header) is very bold yet classy. This suit is what black tie dreams are made of and I just adore how lovely it looks with the deep red clothes. This has to be my favorite shade of red-almost bordeaux-and I think it's so sexy and sultry, especially paired with the black sandals. I love red on red and, since it can get pretty intense, I would suggest keeping everything else (including the makeup) pretty minimal. This look is proof that you can be sexy and feminine without showing too much skin or wearing tight clothes. Lastly, let's just admit that if we saw this couple out on Valentine's Day, we'd be pretty darn jealous XD

Bonobos: valentine's day ♥
The second look is a bit more casual yet still very polished and glam. I really like the laid-back vibe of the suit and how well it plays with the pink candy tones. I feel like this is fit for a younger couple who wanted to dress up for the special occasion, hence the diamond choker. The pumps are simply to die for ♥ and the makeup set from Kylie's collections is just perfect for the look!

So, what do you guys think? Which one of these looks is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below ♥
