I accidently came across this challenge by Popsugar and I decided to give it a go! I thought it would be a nice addition to the "lifestyle" portion of my blog which, sadly, is a bit neglected. But, above all, I thought it would be really fun for me to try. I couldn't be more single at the moment and I found the post very tempting and inspiring.
Thus, I'm going to record my daily progress here and see how it goes. The challenges are pretty simple and not that much time consuming, which means that every single girl can give it a shot. Maybe you can start with me or wait and see my thoughts at the end of September. Or you can just sit back and laugh at me^*
Whatever you decide to do, I know that I'm excited to start!

Day 1Follow a hot friend of a friend on Instagram

To be honest, I thought this task was a bit lame at first. Like, just follow someone? Where's the fun in that? Oh, how wrong was I. First of all, it is actually quite a task to find a hot friend of a friend. You have to find the right friend and then scroll down their list of followers and check out every.single.guy! Since you don't need to think if you could ever have a chance with him or something like that, you don't need to compromise for anything less than HOT!
After checking out like 50 different profiles (keep in mind that some are private) and believing I would never find anyone decent, I finally found one I really liked. Tall, blonde, with piercing blue eyes and a very model-like face.
>Let me tell you, it was so much fun to do this and I definitely think it would be even better to do it with a friend! Obviously, Ι don't expect this guy to follow me back or anything but I enjoyed a single girl's privilege and certainly had fun!
Just be careful because, once you find that "one", it can be a little addictive ;)
ps: that clearly is not the guy I followed, but I think he's a great fit for today's challenge and he just happened to appear when I refreshed my feed #gottaloveinsta

Day 2: Write down everything you want in a future partner

This seemed like a rather easy task at first. Indeed, I came up with a bunch of different things but after a while I was just stuck. I asked my mum for help because we have similar taste and pretty much the same opinion on what matters in a relationship. It was easy enough for her, but then she was stuck too. It's kinda hard to write down every-single-thing!
Finally, I made my list. I know there is probably a lot missing and I am aware that it is quite impossible to find all these qualities in just one person. I am not delusional. It's just the challenge^* Plus, I realised that I don't know anyone with these qualities(at least one or two of these), so I have good reason to be single.
Good sense of humor
Hard working
Acts his age
Down to earth
Tough but tender
Respect for me/himself/everyone
Wants the same things
Good listener
Open minded

Day 3: Write down everything you don't want in a future partner

If you love to complain about boys, then this challenge should be a great fit for you. At first I just wrote down random things, but then, I realised that all I had to do was think of all my ex-boyfriends and of all the people I don't "like" in general. From that point on, it was easy! Although I had to keep myself from mentioning "serial killer" and stuff XD
Again, I am not delusional. It doesn't mean that if someone has one of these qualities he's immediately out of the question. Relationships are much more complicated than just black and white. After this challenge though, I was happy I don't have to deal with anyone with these qualities.
"Oedipus complex"
Self centered
Too spontaneous
High maintenance
Fear of commitment
Kiss-ass XD

Day 4: Get glammed up for a bangin' shameless selfie

I'm not going to lie. This was my favorite challenge so far! I absolutely love to wear makeup and it was nice to actually have a reason to take so many selfies. The only one I posted was on snapchat, but I have many more. It felt so good to see all the photos looking really nice after the edit.
It really boosts my confidence even looking at them by myself, let alone posting them and getting flattering comments. I guess there is not much more to say here, apart from the fact that realising how pretty you are-everyone is pretty in their own way-is truly important. Any guy would be lucky to have you and you should never feel ashamed for your looks-only confident!
Here is my selfie♥

Day 5: Go out for drinks at a place you've never been to before; don't leave without meeting a potential prospect

I unfortunately only did the first part! I went out with a guy friend(ONLY friend)-that's why. But I couldn't care less. I really liked going to a new place and trying new things and I enjoyed people looking at me, even if they didn't make a move. And we had a great time! It's nice not to think about boys for a while and just be yourself with your friends. Plus, we also saw a cute guy that we already knew and I had small talk with him ;)
The only downside is that apart from the guy-presence who prevented people from coming over and talking to me, I also know that it's my fault too. I've been told before that I'm kinda hard to approach at first, so I guess I need to work on that.

Day 6: Unabashedly make eyes with somebody (or everybody) you find attractive

This was fun! It’s very liberating to be able to flirt with your eyes with pretty much every hot guy in the room. I tried to be discrete, but still, it was great. I don’t think you need to be a daredevil to do this and I assure you that you will feel pretty good after exchanging looks with someone you find attractive.

Day 7: Download a new online dating app and give it a shot for at least the day

I was pretty skeptical about this. I’m not into online dating, that’s for sure. But I thought I should give it a go, just for fun. I downloaded Tinder because this was the only one I had heard of. It was hilarious to rate all these strangers and see so many different people. I found some matches but they all lived far-faaar away and one of them didn’t even speak English. It was fun, but I wouldn’t say it’s a good way to meet someone serious.

Day 8: Let a friend hook you up on a blind date

I asked a friend to arrange a “date” with a hot friend of hers and, gladly, she agreed. She would be there too with her boyfriend but she had to cancel because of some kind of family trouble. No blind date for me I guess. But I’m not disappointed. Maybe I will try it again in the future and maybe something great will happen!

Day 9: Give your number to somebody you've been eyeing

Is it a shame to say that I’m not eyeing anybody at the moment? I’m not “into” anyone right now and I kinda have mixed feelings about it. I’m over my “ex” (we weren’t actually together) and I’m open to meet new people. Sure, it’s nice to feel that way about someone, but it’s also awesome to have no strings attached or anything like that.

Day 10: Spend a wild night out with only other single friends

Luckily, I have quite a few single friends. Me and three other girls unexpectedly decided to go out on a girls night. We ended up clubbing until early in the morning! We met new people, we danced and we had a really great time without a doubt♥

Day 11: Plan a night out and encourage your friends to invite people you don't know

Well, I did, but my friends weren’t really into that idea. Some of them tried it, but eventually we ended up going out by ourselves. I even had a gathering at my place and I told people they could bring a friend, but nobody brought a stranger...I guess I need to hang out with more interesting or sociable people XD

Day 12Reach out to someone you passed up on before when the timing wasn't right

Oh boy, was that an idea! I happened to know the perfect person for this challenge. I’m not going to ramble about our “story” because I simply realized that he was not worth it, after going out with him again. Before that, I kept thinking that it was a shame that things ended the way they did. But going out made me realize that not only he is not worth my time and energy but also that I was an idiot believing there was more to this relationship. Very redeeming and comforting experience that I definitely recommend if you have any unfinished business! Plus, I don’t really believe in timing. If someone really likes you, they find time and make an effort. And so do you, of course.

Day 13Invite someone you only really know via social media to hang out in person

Unfortunately, I didn’t know anyone like that. Actually, I do, but they all live abroad. Plus, I would be a little intimidated to meet someone I met online. I guess I watch too much “Catfish” he he.

Day 14Finally block or unfriend an ex who you aren't on particularly healthy terms with

Again, I don’t have a person like that in my life. Thankfully.  It’s not that I’m friends with all my exes, but I always try to move on. I’m not really the kind of person who cuts people off.

Day 15Start a conversation with a stranger

Well that was an easy one for me. I tend to start conversations with strangers all the time. It might be the lady sitting next to me on the bus or a little girl who is smiling at me or, in this case, a hot guy dancing in a club. I know, a club is not the perfect place to initiate conversation, but I sure enjoyed having small talk with someone who was interested in me.

Day 16: Go out with friends to a karaoke bar and sing a girl-power anthem

We had some technical problems with this challenge. There are no karaoke bars around here so we couldn’t go to one XD Right now I say it’s too bad because I would like to try it out once and I think it would be fun. But, on the other hand, I’m pretty sure that I would chicken out if had had to go on stage and have my “Sex and the City” moment!

Day 17Spend an entire day not looking at social media
Being a person who works with social media, uses social media to communicate with friends, schedule dates, work on college projects and much more, it is obviously impossible for me to do this right now. Looking at social media is my way to get information about anything concerning my life and work. Sure, I get my fair share of makeup tutorials and funny videos, but it’s not only this. Maybe during the holidays I can try to do so. I honestly want to do this because I believe it will be good for me to let off steam for a while-but that while is not now-unfortunately.

Day 18: Go as long as you can without texting back your confusing friend with benefits
I did this and I’ve done this many times in the past. Sure, it’s hard to refrain from it in the beginning, but as the days go by you start to realize that it is literally all in your head. After all, if he is that into you, he will come after you!

Day 19: Throw out old mementos from past relationships
I don’t really have any mementos from past relationships because I usually throw them away with anger (usually towards myself) when the relationship ends. Actually, scratch that. I probably have some, but I have absolutely no idea where they are! Out of sight out of mind, right?

Day 20: Do something daring with today's look and spend the whole day thinking positively about yourself
That wasn’t much of a challenge for me since I love to experiment, especially with my makeup and go out with let’s say almost black lips at 6 p.m. I’ve learned to “pull it off”, I guess, and I don’t care if it turns some heads. After all, I get compliments too!

Day 21: Spend the evening dating yourself with a favorite film and a good dinner
One of my favorite things to do when I have the house all to myself and I feel like I need to unwind and reenergize for the upcoming week, even when it’s not part of a challenge. I generally like to spend some alone time on a regular basis, probably because I didn’t grow up with any siblings around.

Day 22: Join or start some sort of new social group, like a book club or softball team!
Does going to a completely new college count? Yes I’m a freshman this year and so far it’s been really nice. I’ve met some great new people and I’ve started to engage into interesting subjects. When it comes to boys, I can’t say I’m impressed-but I’m used to it after all these years XD

Day 23Buy a fierce new 'fit and save it for a date you're really, actually excited about
Please! I don’t buy new clothes for men. If I buy something fierce, it’s not going to wait rotting at the back of my closet while I’m searching for Mr. Perfect. If I buy a fierce new outfit, I’m wearing it while looking for him ha-ha.

Day 24: Go out for lunch with a friend; make a pact to not talk about your love lives even ONCE
We didn’t make a pact, but we didn’t talk about our love lives. And it felt gooood! I mean, it’s nice to chit chat about boys and laugh with cheesy stuff, but a break doesn’t hurt either. Plus, if you can talk with your friends ONLY about boys, you really need new friends.

Day 25Head out to do something by yourself, like hanging at the beach with your dog or reading at the park
I went shopping, does that count? Well, there are no real judges in this challenge so I say it does. If I weren’t on a serious budget I’m pretty sure I’d be a hopeless shopaholic. Like I said, I like doing things by myself.

Day 26Post a subtly flirty comment on a crush's social media post
It was a private message not a post, but I can’t really say it was my “crush”. I don’t have a crush on anyone at the moment. But even if I did...post something public...really? I don’t think so. There are so many mean people out there and the last thing I need to do is give them a reason to gossip even more than they do.

Day 27Create a new memory at a place with nostalgic ties to an ex
I don’t have nostalgic ties to an ex of mine, but I like to go to the same place more than once, so I guess I create new memories over and over again, which is really good!

Day 28Light candles, turn on relaxing music, and take a bubble bath
I did it. And I did it properly. With bath bombs, bath salts, essentials oils , candles and a good book. But I was in there for too long and then I had a cold...not quite sure what that means XD

Day 29Ask your parents or someone you look up to for love advice
With a mother like mine, I don’t need to ask. She just delivers. I don’t listen to her all the time but when I do, she keeps repeating “you’re too picky”.  Well, I hear a lot of people saying that and I also see a lot of people my age being in relationships just to be with someone. Want to know what I say?

Day 30Spend today trying to have as much fun as possible, and don't worry about your relationship status!
I did, in fact I try to do so every single day. Sure, there are times when I get lonely or a little jealous and I wish I were in a relationship, but I try to stay positive. If we were to talk about a greater force-call it God, Karma, Universe or whatever-I believe that things happen for a reason and that you are able to deal with whatever comes your way. As for what doesn’t come your way, just take a moment and think about all the things that you wouldn’t be able to do then and you can do now. Like go out with your friends and be silly and flirt and party and not have anyone to answer to. Just enjoy the place you are now, live every day to the fullest and try to make your life and yourself better. Not the way someone else would like it, but the way you feel you would be happier. After all, at the end of the day, you are left with yourself-whether you are in a relationship or not-and how you feel is what matters. {I don’t say make others feel bad, of course} Just be grateful and stop worrying too much about your status.

As for the challenge, I highly recommend you giving it a go. After all, you don’t have anything to lose, right? I promise, it’s fun!
