HAIR DO'S & DON'TS (ft. Madison Reed) ♡

Hello my loves! How is your weekend going so far? I'm still struggling with my finals but I thought I should share this fun post with you. It's all about hair!
Long story short, I teamed up with Madison Reed to share with you our favorite hair do and don'ts and bust some popular myths. Although I'm no hair expert, I do work with a popular hair salon so I know some tricks. If you want the opinion of the pros though, you can check out the list at the end of the post! Also, you can take a fun hair color quiz! Now let's see my list...

DO

 - Cut your split ends at home: Just take a small pair of scissors-the one you would use for your nails-and when you see a split end cut it. It's important to cut right where it starts, otherwise you'll end up with completely messed up hair.
- Use hair masks(DIY or not):  to hydrate and strengthen your hair, especially if you are an avid heat lover.
- Wash the night before: It saves you so much time in the morning! If you take that extra time to put them in a tight bun or braid etc. and prep them right, I guarantee you'll wake up with perfect ready-to-go hair!
- Let your hair dry before blow drying: You should let your hair air dry or dry in the towel up to 80% before you use heat. Not only it takes less time, but it also causes less damage.

DON'T

- DIY lighter hair: I'm usually all about DIYs but, trust me, this one doesn't work. If you have dark hair and you want to go lighter or add highlights and stuff, don't try it at home. At least not at first. I tried to go blonder at home and I ended up with orange hair XD

- Bleach too often: It damages the hair and makes it weaker. Enjoy your natural hair color as long as you can ;)
- Comb curly hair: Unless you want to look like a frizzy poodle. In that case, go for it! Brush your hair after you wash it, only while it's still wet, to detangle it. Otherwise you'll ruin your beautiful curls.
- Trust Pinterest too much: Or any other hair DIY you find online. Be extra careful, because some tricks/treatments etc. don't work for everyone(or anyone!).

TRANSITION TO SPRING♡

Who would have thought that spring would be here so fast? I know it's still chilly outside, at least where I live, but warm sunny days are about to come. I'm sure your closet is just like mine. Dark colors, boring chunky knits and winter boots. Don't get anxious. I'm here today to make your wardrobe transition to spring a lot easier.
It is kinda odd to go from your black turtleneck to a neon yellow sundress, right? The key here is to find the right spring pieces and start incorporating them to your winter looks. Make baby steps and don't just go for florals, crop tops and color all at once.
Now, what are those life-saving pieces you may want to consider adding back to your closet? Well, everything! You see, it's not what you wear, but how you  wear it. The safest option is probably light washed denim and lightweight black and white. But, you can definitely wear a white lace tank if you do the proper layering.
Another tip is to opt for contrast pieces. This really isn't what it sounds like. I mean dark spring clothes or light winter clothes. So, you will pick a pastel leather jacket or coat, but a black crop top or sundress. Pretty simple huh?
You can also go for that bright pop of color. How cool will look a total black outfit with a neon blue purse? This pop of color can be anything from floral sunglasses to a bright mini skirt with black opaque tights.
Just get your imagination working in way that you'll end up with cute transitional outfits instead of a cold! XD
I hope you guys like the things I picked. What are your key transitioning pieces? Let me know in the comments below♥

#NYFW HANDBAG ESSENTIALS

#NYFW Handbag Essentials
Wow, two posts in a row? That's so unlike me this year. But, instead of blabbering again about my tiring schedule, I'll cut to the chase. New York Fashion Week!
It's so close and all the people seriously involved with fashion are planning like crazy. Speaking from personal experience, fashion weeks are fun and exciting, but also ridiculously tiring and stressful. Imagine walking from show to show and standing for literally hours in sky high heels. Plus, there are so many people and photographers and loud music all the time. And you have a zillion things in mind. good thing the gorgeous shows make up for all the exhaustion!
So, you understand that your bag is the only thing that can help you get through the day. I decided to put together a list with my 10 necessities for Fashion Week. I obviously won't mention phone and wallet because, who leaves the house without these ever? Let's start!
Bag: You obviously need a bag big enough to fit all the things you need in. I like to experiment depending on the outfit, but there is nothing like a good old black tote. It's versatile, classy and stylish and you can keep it even if you change outfit through the day. This Fendi Peekaboo has a cute twist.
1. Camera
I don't just take pictures of the shows, but also of the crowds, the clothes, the backstage and everything else. And these are the kind of events where you really need good quality and not blurry pictures.
2. Portable Phone Charger
Because you're still going to use your phone a lot for social media and selfies and texts and important calls. The last thing you need is your battery dying.
3. Compact Powder
You will definitely need to touch up a little bit during the day. A compact powder like this with a mirror and the sponge is exactly what you need while you're in the car running from one show to another and you want to cover an imperfection or just to keep your face from breaking and shining.
4. Sunglasses
Apart from the obvious reason, sunnies are perfect to hide your sleepy tired eyes in the morning and also the coolest accessory. Just the thing you need to face the photographers. In case you haven't noticed, your eyes doing weird things are ruining the pictures 80% of the time.
5. Lip balm
You don't want dry, chapped lips and when you're stressed and you get dehydrated that tends to happen. The EOS spheres are perfection no matter the occasion, but you just need to remember not to get the balms in the jar. You really don't want to stick your questionably clean finger in it all day.
6. Mints
A bad breath is terrible, especially when you are meeting so many new, and important people. It's nice to feel fresh and clean all day, no matter what you're going through.
7. Card Holder
It's just too obvious to comment on that XD
8. Notebook
A small, practical notebook always comes in handy especially when you want to write an article or a review afterwards. Or maybe you can write your experiences from the week and have a collection from all the fashion weeks you've been to.
9. Lipstick
You need a chameleon lipstick that goes with any makeup and outfit, just in case. You always keep it in your purse and you have no worries. "Velvet Teddy" from Mac is a very famous nude, and I think it looks good on pretty much everyone.
10. Rollerball perfume
It's not cool to start spraying perfume and all you're going to get is weird looks from everyone. On the contrary, the rollerball is much more discrete and much easier to focus on the areas you need it. A great pick me up during the day.
So guys these are my essentials for a stressing fashion week day. What are your everyday handbag essentials? Let me know in the comments below♥

QUEEN OF GOLD-HALLOWEEN 2014

Queen of gold-Halloween 2014
Happy Halloween everyone! I know that technically it's over here since it's already November 1st(so have a nice month y'all ^^). But, we don't celebrate halloween here in Greece anyway. We have a similar holiday where everyone is dressing up and stuff around February though. But, I know that a lot of my readers are from the US, so I thought I should show you what my costume would be. I already made a post with an exclusive nail art tutorial where I collaborated with Julep, so you can check it out here in case you missed it.
About my costume now. I know that some people go for something really spooky and disgusting on Halloween, but this year I decided I wanted to do something a little more, well, me. I've been obsessed with gold these past few months, so this look is probably the perfect fit for me(plus I think that it would look amazing with my hair).
This Oscar de la Renta gown is simply out of this world. A real work of art that belongs more to a museum than inside someone's closet. It's so gorgeous and mysterious and embraces all the golden accents without looking tacky. The shoes had to be Jimmy Choo, since he's one of the few that can make all that shiny material look chic and expensive. That mask from etsy gives that air of an old venetian ball to the look. The Versace earrings blend perfectly with the italian vibe of the costume somehow without being overwhelming. I think that the Trick-Treat Charlotte Olympia clutch was made for this look, and it kinda balances the whole gold thing. Gold nails by Guerlain and golden liner by Urban Decay and we are good to go!
I am absolutely in love with this outfit and I really wish I could afford it. All together the pieces cost almost 15.000€ which is beyond the limit of "out of reach". But, you know, weird things happen on Halloween, so maybe my fairy-god-mother will show and transform me into the Queen of Gold with her magic wand.
If not, consider this look as a tribute to the late Oscar de la Renta. May this incredibly talented man rest in peace.
What do you guys think of my Halloween look? What was your costume this year?
ps. this is a photo I made specially for the day(sorry) XD

SPOOKY HALLOWEEN NAIL TUTORIAL(S) x JULEP

Oh boy! This is my 100th post! I simply can't believe it! There are so many things that I want to say about this blog and all the experiences that it has offered me, but I'm waiting until January when it's going to be officially 1 year old!
I can't think of a better way to celebrate this post, than the awesome collab with Julep. As I'm sure you know, Julep is a fab beauty brand widely loved all over the world. If you don't know them yet, just check out their new nail polish color page and I'm sure you'll love them like I do.
In my part of this post, I will show you how to create a fun spooky design on your nails for Halloween. I decided to go for a goth, zombie kind of thing. I think it really sets you in the mood.
Step 1:
Apply base coat and dye your nails with black polish. I used the black one from Seventeen (or Julep's "Jet"). Apply twice for a bolder result.
Step 2:
After the black coat dries, take a white polish and create a big dot in the middle of your nail. Make sure that the dot is not too thick otherwise it will take forever to dry. I used "Winter White" by Maybelline (or Julep's "Dana"-extra points since it gets electric blue under black light- super spooky).
Step 3:
Use the brush tips and extend from the dot to create the jaw. Basically a tiny square. It doesn't have to be perfect.
Step 4:
After the head of your skull dries, use the same black nail polish we used in the beginning to create two ellipses for the eyes, a smaller and a larger one. Use the top of your black brush on the jaw to create the illusion of teeth. Let the details dry.
Step 5:
Use a dark red polish to add some blood. Be creative! I wanted blood coming out of the eyes and the mouth and then I thought it would be nice to have blood falling on the skull from the tip of my nail. I used "Red Seduction" by Maybelline (or Julep's "Anisha").

Step 6:
Use the tip of your brush to create red or white scars and maybe add some more blood at the rest of the nails.

Step 7:
Finish with top coat and you are done!

Your nails can be shaped however you like, to achieve this look. I like mine in the rounded square shape. I didn't use any special tools to create this, just the regular brushes of each polish. You can use a toothpick though if you find it hard to do it with the brush.

And now, for the Julep's part of the post, they send me and exclusive Halloween nail tutorial, just for you guys! How amazing is that? It's obviously much more professional than my design and super fun to do. Enjoy!
I believe that this collab was a perfect fit for my 100th post, since I don't believe that any of my readers are not nail junkies. I know I am!
I hope you guys enjoyed this extra special exclusive post. If you decide to recreate any of these two I would love to see it, so please post a photo on instagram and tag me @helena_tsk and Julep @julepmaven
Don't forget to check out Julep's page www.julep.com and to visit my blog again for more posts like this one.
Have an awesome weekend!

FALL 2014 COLOR TREND

It's too cold for you here...
Hey everyone! I hope your Saturday plans are exciting! Just like I promised in my previous post, I created 3 different looks using brown/beige pieces. As I said, they are pretty versatile and can make your outfit look more expensive, but I figured that most people are kinda afraid to incorporate them in their looks. It's no secret that brown is harder to style that black or grey. But, lucky for you, this light brown goes perfectly with black and grey!
I created 3 different looks because I know that everyone has a different style and different obligations and occasions in their lives. You obviously won't show up at school wearing a pencil skirt and animal print heels. But you could wear that at work.
The first outfit(header) is for you fashionistas who are not afraid to mix different prints and show some skin even when the weather is colder. Don't wear skin color tights with this, or any other look. I repeat, DO NOT WEAR "NUDE" TIGHTS! Haha sorry I get a little carried away. As I was saying, this look is a bit more brave so you want to keep everything neutral and kinda in the same color family. And, of course, don't overdo it with the makeup.
Find another one cause he belongs to me
The second one is the comfiest of all three and brings out the rocker side of this neutral color. Leather and denim is one of the best combinations on earth but I normally wouldn't go for three different dominant leather pieces in the same look. But I think that the beige makes everything more subtle, especially combined with the nude lipstick and gold instead of silver jewelry. I also love how this dressy top becomes more casual with the distressed jeans.
You're gone and I gotta stay high
The final outfit is the most dressy and polished. I love though how the chunky sweater dresses the whole look down. Here again I went for nude makeup because I think that a bold lip with leopard sandals would be too much in this case.
I really can't pick a favorite but I guess the one I would wear more is the second one, just cause it's the one that fits my lifestyle the best.
You guys just remember to take this trend and style it the way it suits you best and just have fun with it! There are really countless options for you to go for, especially if you choose an accessory instead of clothing in this color.
These following sets are some old ones I made for fashion week, but they are head-to-toe beige and not really something you can easily wear on a daily basis. But then again, it's up to you! Enjoy!
